Tsunami in Japan March 11, 2011

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan today, triggering tsunamis and flooding the areas along the cost.

All of the news agencies are covering this (we’re tracking through CNN and BBC).  As of right now the death toll is around 10,000 and is rising.

There are tsunami warnings for 19 other countries and many Pacific islands.  Many of these islands are not as developed as Japan and lack the same resources.

While we will continue on our mission to raise awareness for domestic violence and other forms of abuse today, we will continue to update with information about the tragedy and links to the humanitarian groups that could use donations.

If you are in one of the areas that has been warned, please stay safe.  If evacuation is necessary, please check on your neighbors and make a safe yet speedy departure.    If you have access to twitter, tweet us and let us know how we can help, what is needed, and we will RT and get the word out to the best of our abilities.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
